Can I change my Stripe account?

Yes, you can disconnect Stripe and connect a different account under Settings → Payments—but we do not recommend it once you are taking payments. Client cards, customers, and active memberships live on the Stripe account linked to your studio. Switching accounts can break renewals and usually does not move that data with you.

Short answer #

  • Prefer: keep your existing Stripe account and update business or bank details inside Stripe.
  • If you must switch: use Disconnect, then Connect Stripe Account and sign in with the new Stripe login—after planning for lost cards and membership billing.
  • With active memberships: contact support@kriya.com.au before you switch so you understand the impact.

What Stripe stores for your studio #

Stripe is CoreBookings' payment gateway for card charges, refunds, and recurring membership billing. When clients buy passes or memberships, CoreBookings creates and maintains:

  • Stripe customers linked to your CoreBookings clients.
  • Saved payment methods used for memberships and future purchases.
  • Active subscriptions for recurring memberships.
  • Payment and payout history for your studio.

That payment data belongs to the connected Stripe account. Disconnecting CoreBookings from Stripe does not move it to a new Stripe account.

How switching works in CoreBookings #

Where: Settings → Payments

  1. Open the Stripe Payment Processing card.
  2. Click Disconnect and confirm when prompted.
  3. Click Connect Stripe Account.
  4. Complete Stripe onboarding, signing in with the Stripe account you want to use.
  5. Use Refresh Status if the page still shows the old connection state.

Step-by-step disconnect details: How to disconnect my Stripe account.

Would I lose any information? #

CoreBookings client profiles, class bookings, and most studio settings stay in CoreBookings. What you risk losing or breaking is the payment link to Stripe:

  • Saved client cards on the old Stripe account do not transfer automatically.
  • Active memberships billed on the old account may stop renewing or need to be recreated on the new account.
  • Historical charges and payouts stay in the original Stripe account.
  • Stripe may be able to help migrate some customer records between accounts, but subscriptions and payment methods usually need clients to save a card again.

Even with Stripe's help, a full migration is difficult and never guaranteed. Studios have lost subscription billing continuity after changing accounts.

What we recommend instead #

If your business details change, update them in your existing Stripe account rather than creating a new one. In Stripe you can usually change:

  • Business name and trading name.
  • Contact email and phone number.
  • Bank account for payouts.
  • Business address and tax information.

From CoreBookings, open Settings → Payments and click Open Stripe Dashboard to manage those details.

Do not change your connected Stripe account after you have started selling passes, memberships, or taking card payments unless you have planned the impact with support (and Stripe if needed).

Need to change accounts anyway? #

Email support@kriya.com.au before you disconnect if you already have live payments or memberships. We can help you understand what would break and whether updating the existing Stripe account is enough.

If you still proceed, follow the disconnect and reconnect steps above, then ask clients with memberships to update their card / re-purchase as needed.
