How Do I Create and Modify Promo or Discount Codes?

CoreBookings lets you offer percentage discounts on pass and membership purchases with coupon codes. Create them once in the dashboard, then share the code with clients or apply it at the desk.

Short answer #

  • Where: SettingsCoupons
  • Plan: available on Growth and Scale
  • Discount type: percentage off (1–100%)
  • Applies to: passes and workshops, recurring memberships (first payment only), or both
  • Clients enter codes when buying online or in the app; staff can apply them in POS

Plan requirement #

Coupon codes are a Growth feature. If you are on Starter or Free, you can view the Coupons page but cannot create or edit codes until you upgrade.

Go to AccountSubscriptionPlan to upgrade to Growth or Scale.

Create a coupon #

  1. Open SettingsCoupons.
  2. Click Add Coupon.
  3. Fill in the code, discount percentage, and any limits (see below).
  4. Choose what the coupon applies to.
  5. Leave Active status on, then click Create Coupon.

Coupon fields #

  • Code: the text clients type at checkout (for example, WELCOME20). Codes are stored in uppercase.
  • Discount %: percentage off the purchase price. CoreBookings coupons are percentage-based only; fixed-dollar discounts are not supported.
  • Expiry date: optional. Leave blank for no expiry. Past dates cannot be saved on new coupons.
  • Max redemptions: optional. Leave blank for unlimited uses. If you set a limit, it must be equal to or higher than how many times the code has already been used.
  • Applies to passes & workshops: discounts class passes and paid workshop tickets at online checkout and POS.
  • Recurring memberships: discounts the first payment only, then the membership continues at the full recurring price.
  • Active status: inactive coupons cannot be redeemed. Turn this off instead of deleting a code you may want again later.

At least one of Applies to passes & workshops or Recurring memberships must be enabled.

Edit or deactivate a coupon #

On the Coupons page, click a coupon row (or choose Edit from the actions menu) to open it. Update any field, then click Update Coupon.

To stop a code from working without removing its history:

  1. Open the coupon.
  2. Turn Active status off and save, or
  3. Choose Deactivate from the row actions menu and confirm.

Use the Show inactive toggle at the top of the page to view deactivated coupons.

Where clients use codes #

Clients can enter a promo code when buying a pass or membership in the CoreBookings mobile app or on your public booking page. Tap Add promo code, enter the code, then apply it before completing payment.

Staff can also apply a coupon when selling a pass or workshop ticket through POS in the dashboard.

If a code does not work, check that it is active, not expired, has redemptions remaining, and applies to the product type being purchased.
